Ways to Make Your Own DIY Cannabis Topicals

DIY Cannabis Topicals

Since the discovery and legalization of medicinal cannabis, several products and trends have hit the market. One popular trend currently flooding the market is the emergence of CBD-infused topicals that you can find on Exhalewell.com. Topicals containing cannabis are popular among many users since they are not ingested but applied directly to the skin. Topicals, therefore, do not get the user high. CBD-infused topicals include balms, salves, and lotions. Infused topicals are easy to make, and you can make DIY-infused topicals by following a few steps. Here are some recipes for making cannabis topicals at home.

Cannabis Salve

DIY Cannabis Salve

Cannabis salve can be used to offer relief for chronic pain and other painful symptoms. Follow these steps to make your own cannabis salve.

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups of coconut oil
  • 7 to 10grams of dried cannabis ground
  • 1/3 cup beeswax
  • 1/3 cup olive oil
  • A few drops of essential oil
  • 1 jar
  • 1 cheesecloth
  • 1 saucepan

Procedure

  1. Start by preheating your oven to 240°F
  2. Spread dried ground cannabis on a baking sheet
  3. Decarboxylate the ground cannabis for 25-30 minutes once the oven is preheated.
  4. Meanwhile, mix the olive and coconut oil in the saucepan. Heat the mixture in low heat while stirring continuously.
  5. Next, open your oven and remove the decarboxylated cannabis grounds. Mix them with the olive and coconut oil mixture and continue heating the mixture for a further 25 minutes. Keep the heat low and continue to stir.
  6. Remove the mixture from the saucepan after 25 minutes of lapses and use cheesecloth to pour it into a jar and set it aside.
  7. Add and melt the beeswax in the same saucepan you used for the oil mixtures. Slowly add the infused mixture to the melting beeswax.
  8. At this point, you can add a few drops of essential oils to the mixture. Use peppermint, tea tree oils, or lavender oils.
  9. Once all ingredients are thoroughly mixed, remove them from the heat and transfer them to your containers.
  10. Store the salve in a cool and dark place.

Cannabis-Infused Cream and Lotion

DIY Cannabis-Infused Lotion

The procedure of making infused cream and lotion is fairly the same as the procedure used to make infused salve. The difference is in the ingredients.

Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon vitamin E oil
  • 1 cup aloe vera gel
  • 2 tablespoons shea butter or cocoa butter

Adding more olive oil will increase the fluidity of your cream. You can also use vitamin e or almond oil to increase the fluidity of your cream or lotion.

The CBD-infused topical lotion is fairly thick thus using it in a lotion pump might not be the best idea. It won’t be easy to pump the lotion out of the bottle.

Containers offer the best options for storing thick infused lotions and creams. Containers used for the cannabis flowers offer the best option for storing these topicals.

Remember to store your topical in a cool and dark place. This will preserve the topical and increase its longevity.

Additional Tips

  • To make natural-tinted lip balm, add frozen raspberries to your infused oils.
  • To make flavored lip balm, add a teaspoon of cocoa or honey.
  • Add a teaspoon of cayenne pepper to your topicals to relieve arthritis pain.
  • To make a headache relief balm, add 15 to 20 drops of lavender, peppermint, eucalyptus, and tea tree to your infused topical.
  • To make a calming sleep balm, add chamomile and dried rose petals. Apply the balm to your feet’ soles before going to bed.
